Pros

  • POI Favoriting: attendees used Points of Interest Favoriting to create personal lists of the booths, speakers, and events that were most important to them.

  • Multi-level Map: This map upgrade allows users to filter through various floors of the convention using tabs on the map screen. Multi-Level mapping is perfect for events with multiple buildings and floors.

  • Presence Platform: Presence is a state-of-the-art platform that combines multiple location triggers to build interactive digital environments at live events. This technology creates engaging attendee experiences and gives event producers insight into their overall audience behavior.

  • Vendor Menu Items: This feature allows attendees to see which dishes each food vendor has to offer, along with descriptions, prices, and pictures to help attendees decide what to eat. Also, customizable menus available (lists of food attendees want to try) as well as reviews of food offerings.

  • Features like schedule and location sharing enable guests to compare schedules and find friends with ease.

Cons

  • Little emphasis on registration and only a few vendors listed as available for integration.

Other Notes

1

Started out of a need for apps at music festivals, heavily focus on music events but does have case studies from Conferences/Events. Seems to work mostly with large scale events (Taste of Chicago, Bonnaroo, etc).
2

Interesting Bonnaroo case study about finding balance between using iBeacons as a marketing tool versus a communication tool. Team seems very knowledgable about engaging attendees without losing interest/overwhelming them with too much information. Does their team strategize placement of the beacons and make recommendations on communications that go out? How much of this is a collaborative process and how much is just them or just us?
3

How do they integrate with registration systems? Which systems?
4

Reduce friction - send attendees important reminders customized to their needs as they pass by certain beacons.
5

What else are they starting to see happening in the industry? As leaders in the event app space, I'm curious about what their sponsors/marketers are exploring for next events.
6

How customizable can the beacons be? Can they, for instance, detect something personalized about an agenda or person and send out a message tailored to that customization?
7

Can we get data on customized choices from the app following the event? How much data do we get? What format? How can we use it? This question relates to what kind of experience or offers can we provide to our attendees post-event.

Technology: mobile app, web embeds, beacons.
